What is a midwife?

A midwife is a registered health care professional who specializes in maternity and newborn care. Midwives are an established part of the healthcare system in BC and midwifery services are covered by MSP.

Midwifery care is centred around building trusting relationships with clients, providing information for shared decision making, and the principle of respectful and dignified care.
